The San Francisco Alliance is a unique coalition of business, labor and community organizations. Their purpose is to explore how local businesses, labor and community-based organizations can benefit by creating a working relationship to encourage economic development in San Francisco. The Alliance understands that in order to make this happen, their members need to become more active in their neighborhoods.
TOLA fellows played a key role by engaging with Alliance members over the course of two months. They made hundreds of personal visits to the homes of Alliance members, and thousands of calls to Alliance members, in order to educate and involve them in their own communities.
At the end of the project, TOLA fellows organized seven sweeps, involved over 800 volunteers, and collected over 1,000 bags of garbage from SF streets.
